Yes it would, but I seldom follow the piecing instructions in a pattern anyway. Even making the full size blocks I would probably piece them differently. This would make a great Linus quilt. I could find time for that if I got motivated enough.

I think I'd like to make mini sometime...too busy right now, but maybe later. :D I agree, this will make a great Linus quilt. It was what I'm thinking about.

I have made a miniature quilt with 1" Lily( or could be tulip blocks) made with silk as a challenge for our guild's 25th anniversary. I'm looking at it now and can't believe I did it that small. A lot of miniatures are a lot smaller though.

Please - do show!

The mini is adorable, Wendy. What did you do to stabilize the silk? I looked at your other pictures too. Really eclectic in the number and kinds of things you do. I especially liked the little feet you quilted on one piece and the hen quilt. Everything was beautiful, though! :D

Thanks Renata,

I didn't know any better so didn't stabilise but foundation pieced with big pieces and small stitches and then trimmed back. Only one bit shredded when completed later hence the UHU. :D

Thanks, Wendy. My mom recently gave me silk from her stash so that I can play with it (learn how to use it). I cannot imagine not using a stabilizer but my mom does not use stabilizer and cuts her pieces bigger, like you did. I'm going to open up an new posting to show some of her work because she is amazing--she does a lot of hand embroidery and hand quilting with silk thread on silk fabric.

Since I am finally able to get back to sewing/quilting alittle, I would like to join in the classes. Sound like fun and my skills can always use a tune-up! I even have a new camera so I can post pictures of my progress. Anxious to start!

I'm in!!! This will be a great way to practice and get me sewing, instead of just wishing to sew. Most days is hard to make the time to get to the sewing machine. Besides, it'll be great to hang out with you all :D :D :D

I look forward to starting this when I get back next week. I have some ideas about colors I might want to use, but won't pull fabrics until later. My color and fabric choices often change a lot along the way!
