As you know, it was mentioned at the TQS dinner in Houston, but I don't think anything definite has been planned. Keep an eye on the forum for someone to volunteer to be a sorting queen (king???)!!! :D

Deb and Clara will offer advice if asked!

Only if someone wants to sign up for a course of insanity and Lots of extra, but temporary insulation for their house

Personally I am working on plans for a cotton reel (spool) block swap, but it will be for a limited number of participants and I am still working out the details in my head. This is just a 'heads up' to get you all salivating, BUT IT IS NOT OPEN YET!
Probably in the new year/ when I've got my 'B,B&B' quilt quilted.

I'd like that, Rosemary. I think I'd rather that than an HST. Not as many people so not as many blocks. I'm pretty limited for time to do my own stuff.

When Debbie talked about (at the TQS dinner) passing the hat for next year, I said it was something I would consider. I have heard that there may be others that would also like to take the reins. (I will not step on anyone's feet.) But, if I am the one to start the ball rolling, my first though is, it is too early to start getting people excited about another HST exchange, since there are still so many who are desperately trying to get the CURRENT project finished (in some cases, STARTED) before the May deadline for the SOS book. I HAVE been seriously thinking about how to have a successful, stress free exchange, for all. I am open for any conversation, here. I have not appointed myself "Keeper of the HSTs!" For the moment, I am just thinking about it!

A spool block exchange sounds fun. I am one of the people who is still finishing up the HST projects from the SOTT and Batik exchanges. I have the tree quilt from Edyta's book completed and at the quilter. Now I am working on a pinwheel nine-patch quilt with the rest of my squares. I like it but sure takes a lot of sewing. I have had to add a few more of my own triangles but I am enjoying the process and feel more relaxed about it now that the deadline is May.

I rewatched the Edyta Sitar episode a few days ago and thought how fun it would be to make a spool quilt like that. So if anyone is up for it in a few months or later, I'd join in. I did notice that her quilts were mostly more muted fabrics. My triangles were wild and wonderful (loved them!) Would we want to consider some fabric guidelines? Just something to think about.

I'm also thinking, I sent in over 600 triangles in the SOTT exchange. That kind of volume was hard to manage (OK, impossible  ). If our aim was to make a spool quilt, maybe should we have a set # of strips to exchange, or a maximum?

Anyway, I'm fervently glad I was part of the SOTT's and am so happy to see what people have done with them. I would do another exchange again because this was such a positive experience for me. And my gratitude goes out forever to Debbie and Clara and all their helpers.

I truly think that these exchanges brought us closer as a community.

Oooh PosyP (Rosemary) I do hope you'll do the block exchange. If we work this right, we only have to give everyone a roster of who is participating and we can break it down into several rosters of X number of ladies so that right many can participate and yet it would be manageable. I'd be happy to help with that when you're ready. Over the years, I've coordinated block exchanges for North Carolina Quilters, the statewide guild, which at one time was over 300 strong, and also the local guild. NC Quilters lasted for 20 years, but is sadly no more. We were replaced with small guilds in towns all across the state, which is a happy thing! Anyway, I'm offering to help.

Margo - I think Edyta's spools are just great!!!

I'm still working on my triangles, and didn't have it done in time for the book. I'm sorry I'm going to miss out on that, but am going to enjoy seeing what everyone else has accomplished.!

Everyone have a Happy Thanksgiving! :D
