Dear Jane

Wonderful picture of a DJ

Postby QuilterLynn » Sat Jun 16, 2007 4:07 pm

If, like me, you want to do your DJ in BRIGHTS, this is a wonderful pic of a lady who did it - in DENMARK!

I started

Postby MaryL » Sat Jun 16, 2007 8:27 pm

Hi ! I started DJ, a long time ago. I'm hand pieceing . I have a few done , but I got a little side tracked, for about 3 years !

I have the CD and the book. The nice thing about the CD is you can change size and you don't have to copy it. Copying by hand can take a lot more time than , just printing it out. Elecrtic quilt has the CD's

I'd like to join you and hope , I can get some more blocks done.
I have a busy couple of weeks ahead, but will try to join you in Chat when I can .
I'm looking forward to doing these again. I hope being a part of this group effort will keep me on track .

Is anyone planning on doing them by hand ? I'm thinking of continuing them by hand , at least for now.
Maybe we can find a place , that we could post our blocks . It would be fun to see , everyone's progress .

DJ methodology

Postby QuilterLynn » Sat Jun 16, 2007 9:48 pm

I plan to hand piece most if not all. At least now. I'm looking for a project that will give me more hand than machine work. It just puts me in a zone that is not achievable on the machine, at least for me. I find myself hurrying to finish a quilt on the machine so I will ha ve some HAND work.

I know to machine piecers this is really weird, but........! :D :D It makes me very happy to work by hand. :) :)

I ordered the CD from the DEar Jane website today. It doesn't require EQ does it? I hope not as i have QP5. It didn't say it required EQ. :?: :? :?

I'm wondering if we should start a Yahoo Group? I looked and there are several Janiac groups, several in foreign languages, some specifically for geographic parts of the USA, ...... ours could be for Janiacs who are members of TQS. What do you think? It would give us a place to post pics and share progress.

I might do them by hand too. It would be good to keep my hands and fingers nimble!~ Kindergarten teachers tend to lose their fine motor skills, this might help me keep mine!
So, what block should we start with?

maybe we should start with the last block. :)
We could be like those people who read the last pages of books first.
Or maybe pick one in the middle?
It doesn't matter, we could each do something different.
or we can all do the same.
I wonder if they can give us a small gallery where we could post pictures of our blocks....... hmmmmmm.

We do have our six "other pics" spaces in our profiles where we can put DJ pics!

Edited to add: I'd better hurry up and round up some fabrics for this project, while I'm feeling all inspired and eager!

Dear Jane resources

Postby QuilterLynn » Tue Jun 26, 2007 6:02 am

I've been bouncing around in Dear Jane sites all week and have found these two sites that are wonderful resources for us. They have great pics and great hints for doing some of the more difficult blocks. The second site has extremely clear photos of both the FRONT and the BACK of the blocks!

Oh Lynn,

Those websites are awesome. I think they will be helpful when I get started. I am still waiting on my book! I hope it comes today,
