Painting Sewing Room

Painting Sewing Room

Postby Nikkih1288 » Tue Aug 04, 2009 5:50 pm

Hi -

I am hoping someone can help me. I am getting ready to redecorate my sewing room. What color would you recommend to be neutral enough not to skew the colors of my quilts?

Thanks
Nikki

I guess most people would suggest white, but I often find it a little harsh. This is the sort of question that I would ask Gregory Case, because as a photographer of quilts he'll be very aware of how background colours, like walls, impact on the quilts.

I choice a medium beige for the walls, white cabinets, and white countertops for the last 2 rooms I reworked. (yes I hated leaving the first one :( ). I have found that it is not too stark but still a neutral background. I found that the lighting had a bigger impact on color than the walls.

Kaffe Fassett

I remember that when he appeared on Simply Quilts, Kaffe Fassett said that he liked a camel color for his design wall, if this helps.

Nikki

When you do over a room get 'white lite' bulbs for your liteing. I
just replaced my bulbs in the ceeling and table lamps. What a
difference it makes. Its like you are outside and its great for quilting
to be able to see better, makes the room look bigger and if you have design wall
you get a whole big picture. Rina

Thanks for the replies. I like the idea of white or lite beige. I picked out a lettuce green originally but not wanting that now.
