Dear Jane

Dear Jane

Postby RoniG8 » Wed Jun 13, 2007 6:25 am

At the chat last night, we were all waiting for Alex. We started talking about doing a Dear Jane quilt. We decided to " meet" Tuesday evenings in the chat room, and we will try to do 1 block a week, more if you can. No pressure, no deadlines, just try your best. We will support each other and have fun.
I found my book this morning, now to figure out how I can use this software on my Mac.

Dear Jane

Postby ERich » Wed Jun 13, 2007 8:28 am

I need to find the book and I am excited! As I told you before, I want to learn to hand piece and applique so this will be a learning experience for me for sure. Tell me about the software(I have a mac), do you need to have EQ(I don't).

This sounds like fun. I've found where to buy both the book and the CD. Which do I need, or do I need both? I've been thinking about doing a Dear Jane quilt, and this is just impetus that I've needed. Marge in Ohio

If you can only get one, get the CD. The book is nice for reference, but the CD is great because you can print the patterns in any size. JMHO

When I really checked into the software, it appears that it only runs on Windows and I have a Mac. I've ordered the book and will have just as much fun, I'm sure. Thanks, Paegan, for the advice. Marge

There must be a way to run that CD on a Mac. I'm going to order it, maybe my "genius" husband or son will figure it out for me!

Roni, let us know how that turns out, because I'd like to be able to print out the patterns if possible. Meanwhile, the book will be great I'm sure. Marge

Oh Dear! Dear Janiacs!

I've had a 'tickle' to enter the DJ world, especially since reading the article in Quilter's Home by Marc Lipinski last year (Volume 1, No. 1) but kept thinking the project was just too massive.

Is the CD you are referring to the one by Brenda Manges Papadakias at dearjane.com?

I found this web site that offers to link you to an easy to use program to allow you to make your own design wall to place your pics of your DJ blocks! This would be a way to share our construction.

I have purchased my book, but wondering if I need to go ahead and order the cd. I am so excited but also hoping this is not to big a project, I don't want it to become one of those UFO's!!! The chat the other night was great.

Whoa, QueenNonna!
If you don't want "too big a project" you might want to reconsider the Dear Jane quilt. This one is not exactly a quilt in a day!!! I don't know how difficult the blocks are, but there are a LOT of them!

Funny

We love to sew, stitching is in our blood. If we take our time and enjoy the journey listen to a good book on tape stitch away or cut out and take it with you everyone loves to look at the block you are doing . It really helps pass the time away when waiting on ...
So thank how much time you could be sewing a block in the car instead of waiting and waiting . This will be so much fun. Don't you just love seeing Janes quilt when you first click in , WoW

Yes and I'm considering this Dear Jane:

Postby QuilterLynn » Thu Jun 14, 2007 2:24 pm

I'm thinking about it this way: I don't absolutely hope to die have to do an ENTIRE quilt! I can do a mini - or I can incorporate some of her blocks in something else - or I can .........

I'm giving myself room to use my own creativity in this.

Is is sacreligious to even consider doing it in a more 'contemporary' colorway? I'm not really a Janiac so don't know if there are any hard and fast rules that I could break before I ever start! LOL
