Wisconsin - time to check in

Postby Paegan » Thu Jun 21, 2007 8:13 am

I did a member search and there are 363 members from here. Time to check in. I know I've chatted with a few of you. Trying to engage the rest of you who are lurking.

Hi Susan, Way back you and I touched base. We are neighbors. Sort of. Maybe we could start a Southeastern Wisconsin Guild. Gloria in North Prairie

Hi Jean, We moved from northern WI 6 years ago. All quilt shops were from 30 to 50 miles away up there. I love having a quilt shop just down the road here. I have ordered out of catalogs and on line. It's sort of like Forest Gump and his box of chocolates, you never know what you'll get. I'm touchy feely too. I drive my daughter crazy when we shop cause I have to touch everything. Would like to see more Wisconsinites jump in here. Gloria hoping for more rain and cooler weather.

We lived in Winchester up near rhe Michigan border. Eagle River was 52 miles away. We had to go there for jury duty. I'm a home care nurse and saw patients in the Conover area. Ironwood, Michigan had a nice shop and Rhinelander has an excellent shop we visit every time we go to the Minocqua area to visit family and friends. I work in Hartland too. Had a good rain there yesterday and today but it never made it to North Prairie. We are still watering the plants. The grass is really getting brown.. Gloria

When we head up north, we go straight up Hwy 51. I've heard there is an awesome shop in Reedsburg. Maybe the next time we go up I'll stuff DH in the trunk and take a side trip there. If anyone has any info please post it. I can't believe there are only 3 of us in WI checking and posting in the forum. Helloooooo out there. Gloria with a day off on Friday to quilt quilt and more quilt

Postby Stitcher » Wed Jul 18, 2007 10:11 am

I'm from Oshkosh. We have a nice quilt shop and a new little place which sells goat milk saops, lotions etc. and quilting fabric. I have not been there yet. On Wisconsin!

Stitcher,

I was raised in Oshkosh and my dad used to own Leon's. I am now transplanted in Minnesota. Where did they put a quilt shop?

My daughter dated a guy who worked at Leon's in h.s. We are on the far northeast side so go there often. Both q. shops are on the frontage road west of 41. They are each in strips-one just north of 20th. the other north of Witzel. If you haven't been to Oshburg in some time you may not realize how it has grown and changed. Mostly for the better. We still have lake flies. Next week is EAA and the planes are starting to buzz around.

On Wisconsin...

Postby QuilterInaGarden » Wed Jul 25, 2007 9:23 am

I am a lifelong resident of Wisconsin. I live in La Crosse and there a several wonderful quilt shops that are nearby. A Stitch In Time is in Onalaska, Quilt Corner in Sparta is just 25 miles, Yellow Bird Shop in Lansing IA is just 30 miles. All three are top quality shops. I would also recommend the two shops in the Wisconsin Dells area, Quensisential Quilts in Reedsburg and Baraboo. Being that I live near the Minnesota border, there are several shops I visit as well. I am fortunate to have so many nice shops that are nearby.
