Sending out some love!

Sending out some love!

Postby tarabenet » Mon Aug 13, 2007 11:46 pm

I wanted to start a new Rhapsody thread where we could send Ricky some love. I know the clamor for the flag to fly is really just a way of expressing enthusiasm. But reading it -- even though I agree with it, mind you! -- reading it was making me wince. It was starting to feel like we are making demands and that is something that just can't nurture a beautiful creative spirit.

So here's a declaration of admiration and appreciation for you Ricky! As excited as we all are, and as revved up as we are about the Rhapsody project, please know that we wouldn't have you sacrifice your health or stymie your incredible creativity. Not for anything. None of us have any real idea how packed your days are, what deadlines loom, etc. And goodness knows you richly deserve any R&R you can manage, too.

So I'm sending out love and creative energy vibes your way, and so is everyone who adds on to this thread! No demands, just all the support and nurturing and friendship and appreciation we can aim your direction. I hope you feel what we are sending your way. It is all about amplifying and returning all the great energy you've shared with us. Catch the New Day Wave! 8)

Benet,

I think Ricky will appreciate your encouragement. I understand he is very busy, they just got done shooting the next installment of TQS episodes. Plus I believe he is also finishing up a quilt for the cover of his book that is due this fall. So I am sure he is a busy man. For me I can wait, I would love to see more of the videos, I really looked forward to them. However, he has to work, so I can wait. I will more than likely just end up buying his book. I have enjoyed the videos up to this point, so I am sure I will love his book.

For some of you who are very impatient, please just calm down and give Ricky some time. Maybe I am good at waiting because of my time in the military, "Hurry UP!, and Wait" was the motto we used. You just learn to go with the flow, some things you can control and other things you can't.

Sending my support to Ricky from Florida,

Lorelei

Ricky is on his way to do a Super Seminar in Omaha, NE and drives everywhere. So he's probably either getting ready to leave or already on his way. We have to give them time to get pins made, time to get fabric designed and printed. It takes months to get things like this done and in the mean time there are taping sessions, seminars, classes, retreats and personal sewing time that I'm sure they would like to have. Please give them a bit of time. There's so much going on here.

Thanks!
Teri

I would like to say thank you to Ricky as well -- this is such a fun project and having what seems like private lessons from such a great talent is a real treat. I've only been quilting for a couple of years but your videos have made this seem so doable. I'll be waiting for the next video, but don't hurry too much -- I'd love to see some wilderness video when the fall colors appear!

From a different perspective, I certainly have enjoyed the videos, but I've had too many other projects going on to actually start the rhapsody quilt, so perhaps by the time Ricky comes up for air, I'll be able to get started & go along with the rest of you! Ricky just spoiled us with that early frequency!
Plus, camping in WVA I got to see bears in person! LOL!

I'm with you Florence - I'm so busy right now making my SIL's DWR signature quilt along with a line of table runners and place mats I am making to sell this fall that I have not had any time to go beyond making my skeleton drawings for a Rhapsody. This weekend I am going to Lancaster Co PA with DH, and I have a whole day all to my lonesome to go shop hopping, and I plan to buy fabrics for the quilt while I am at it. Once school starts and two of my three kids are out of my hair for most of the day I will be getting started.

So to you Ricky, take your time, I know you have deadlines and responcibilities to take care of first. Be sure to take a little time for yourself in there too so you don't burn out (I think a weekend at the cabin is in order :D ). We will all have plenty of time as the winter comes to slow down and do other things.

Mandy - recovering from having her five year old neice here for two days on top it all

ps - Florence, you actually got to see a black bear?? I know we had one running through the streets of Clarksburg a few weeks ago and my mother had one in her yard in Parkersburg recently too.

YES! Saw a momma and THREE babies-- later in the week, other folks saw TWO mommas, FIVE babies AND the big Daddy bear! They didn't seem to mind a bunch of us watching (from a GOOD distance, mind you!)

Sending Out Some Love

I totally agree with all of you who have posted on this thread. I posted something similar on the original Rhapsody thread recently, too.

Ricky has to be so tired, what with the book, the tapings, the seminars, the days and days driving to the seminars, days and days driving back home, dyeing fabric, plus all the other things to do with the show and his quilt museum that we don't even know about. Wow, I'm tired just thinking about it!

I'm sure he knows that some people are 'extremely enthusiastic' about the Rhapsody quilt, and he'll get something posted as soon as he can.

Maybe you could start another project in the meantime. The Harmonic Convergence is a good one. Once you start, you can't stop! It's always an adventure to see how certain fabrics play out in the final form of the convergence quilt.

Ricky is doing the best he can, I'm sure, so let's just give him a break. He knows that some people are 'extremely enthusiastic' about the Rhapsody quilt, and he'll get something posted as soon as he can.

So Ricky, rest when you can. We'll still be here when the flag waves again!

"Waiting" seems to have always been a part of my life. Nothing comes quickly, and when it does come, it's more wonderful than if it had of happened instantly........I think waiting also helps us to learn a little bit more from each new experience. I have mentioned before that some of my friends say that I "enjoy the journey" much too slowly....but that's because I want to get everything out of each part that I can. So thank you Ricky for every word, every gesture and every way that you have made this experience something wonderful. We do love you so much and can't wait till you're back.

I just wanted to add my words of appreciation to the rest. I can only imagine what Ricky's schedule must be like. Personally the down time has been good for me as I've been able to get some other projects finished up and will soon be ready to start on my Rhapsody quilt. Even then I'll have plenty of catching up to do. I think this is GREAT!! We're learning how to make a Rhapsody quilt, all the great shows, the informative forums, seeing everyone's quilts. TheQuiltShow.com has got to be the best bargain on the web - or anywhere. Thanks again Ricky (and Alex!) and the whole Quilt Show gang. You're the best!!

sending out a message of love

Postby snowplow3840 » Tue Aug 14, 2007 4:59 pm

hey quilting lady what a great idea. For all of you who are suffering from Ricky Rhapsody withdrawel ( me included) get out your Convergence book or your caveman dvd and do somesthing else. Convergences are quick and remarkably easy --- no one except another convergence addict will really but try it you might like it.
and Chantellles are so creative and unusual that who can resist them.

And guess what practicing the narrow qtr inch seam. the curves, the careful cutting, and any of the other skills that you develop on a convergence or a chantelle will help you when you actually get to sew your rhapsody. AND IN THE MEANTIME YOU CAN FINISH A SMALL PROJECT FOR A GIFT OR FOR YOURSELF AND DO THE HAPPY DANCE THAT ALEX HAS TAUGHT IT.

so come jjoin me at the cutting table or the sewing table and lets work on a convergence or a chantelle and we will sew and tip our glasses to Ricky as we wait for the next Rhapsody Video lesson.

so sending my love and admiration to you Ricky as I wait for the next video, Ann aka snowplow still in Minneapolis but using a new computer and sitting in a 2008 motorhome

This thread was never intended as a criticism of any of my beloved fellow quilters. This thread was not meant to be about anyone but Ricky and how much we love him.

Are you feelin' the love, Ricky?

send out some live

Postby snowplow3840 » Tue Aug 14, 2007 7:59 pm

now here is a time that we need to send some love to another one of us ==== Roni we love you and you have so much enthusiasm for this site and all the things you do and you say it like you see it which is the only way you can I dp the same and sometimes dig myself some incredible holes. but then some one like you comes along and gives me a hand up. (this week it was Ritzy with a very touching email that made my day)_ so if you think you dug a hole here is my hand to bring you up and by the way I dont think you did. We all are anxious and wondering and I for one know you are more worried about Ricky and his well being than you are impatient. So BE YOURSELF WE LOVE YOU JUST THE WAY YOU ARE -------- from your friend and admirer in Minnesota, ANN
