TQS/AAQI Challenge 2012

Oh Diane, flattery will get you everywhere - well another quilt for AAQI at least. I am learning a lot from making them and the bonus for me is if they sell for a good cause. A win win situation as they say. Happy quilting!

They are all squared up. Got my binding strips cut. Got my triangles cut (yellow and 4 per). Ready for the next step. But wondering about putting on a little extra like trying a few prairie points for added sparkle. Hummm.

Prairie points add value, but so does a simple bit of piping before the binding. Your quilts are so gorgeous, I wouldn't want to cover any of it up! Something I've been dying to try and have not yet is some metallic foiling for extra sparkle. Are there any spots in your flowers that could use an extra bit of sparkle?

I was thinking about trying some fancy feathers in the background and adding some cubics for sparkle on the flowers. The horse series is the one I'm wrapping up on and they have a lot of bold colors in the background, so I thought the prairie points might do nicely on a few of those. I agree. Don't want to take away from the design. I haven't tried binding yet. Maybe I will have to give that a go on the flowers too. Lots of new things to try.

Clara,, I am going to be watching your horse series very closely.
How a would love to get my hands on some of those.
This is a fun post. Hope I can make quilt or two for the cause.

Reminder to everyone.

When you finish your quilt and register it with AAQI, please send me the number. If you have bought a quilt, please send me the registered number and the price of the quilt (do not need the shipping cost). Thanks. I will post numbers occasionally and I update the numbers on the 3rd post of this thread.

Thanks, Clara

TJ, I will post when I have a batch registered and shipped. I've had these around for a while and it will feel fabulous to get them done and on their way!!!!!!! Clara

Got a little busy this weekend. Squared 8 or 9 quilts. (I still need to do some quilting on the one remaining.) Cut enough binding strips for these and all the flower ones. Cut and ironed my fast triangles for the corners and pinned them in place. Cut smaller strips, added a little stitching and then turned them into 72 tiny prairie points.

Funny thing. I made waffles on Sunday morning. While the waffle cooked (approx. 4 minutes) I would fold and iron my tiny prairie points.

Had to share. I knew you would understand.
