Winning Sawtooth Quilts Announced

Paducah, Kentucky, USA - The National Quilt Museum, Museum of the American Quilter's Society, is pleased to announce the 18 winning quilts of the 2008 Sawtooth-themed "New Quilts from an Old Favorite" contest.  These innovative quilts represent quilters from 12 different U.S. states as well as Japan. 

First place was awarded to Claudia Clark Myers and Marilyn Badger of Duluth, MN, for their quilt titled Berry Patch (pictured above).  Second place was Ann Horton, with her quilt titled Web of Life.  Ann L. Peterson of Aurora, Colorado won third place with her quilt Carmelized Sawblades.  

A book featuring full-color photos of the 18 finalists and their award-winning quilts, biographical information and tips, techniques and patterns will be published by the American Quilter's Society and will be available for purchase at the Museum in March 2008.  In addition, the quilts will be on exhibit at the Museum of American Quilter's Society March 28- June 12,2008.  Afterwards, it will travel as an exhibit to other museums through December 2009.

Quilters wishing to enter the 2009 "New Quilts from an Old Favorite: Burgoyne Surrounded" contest can request an entry form by sending an SASE to MAQS, PO Box 1540, Paducah, KY 42002-1540 or visit the museum's website.  Upcoming themes are Sunflower in 2010, Orange Peel in 2011 and Baskets in 2012.
