I lived near Lancaster back in the late '70's and so enjoyed going there to see the Amish quilts. This brought back some wonderful memories. Thank you so very much! I love the simplicity of the design and the detailed, complex quilting that enhance them. I think I will have to try my hand at one of these quilts. There is something so relaxing and meditative about hand quilting. It makes one slow down and think about life. |

It was being knocked over (metaphorically) by an Amish quilt that pushed me to start quilting a few years ago, and my first quilt was a diamond in the square. I find the Amish quilts to be the most beautiful and powerful in their simplicity. |

I grew up in Philadelphia and have visited Lancaster County several times. I became a quilter because I couldn't afford to buy an Amish/Mennonite quilt--little did I know how much I would spend as a quiltmaker! Thank you for such a great treat! |

The music was written by George Kaillmark 1781-1835. There are words that were put to this tune and the words came from The Psalms of Life, Boston, 1857-1857. The version carrying these words in called "Do What is Right" and is often sung by Christian groups. Clearly, this is Joe Cunningham's interpretation of the piece. Sally |
