Were they suppose to post the specifics about how we do this, here on the BLOG? Do they need to be washed first, is there a special size they need to be made to? Will a regular size pillowcase be alright? Can anyone give me the specifics? Thanks so much for all of this info. I have to tell you that I think that picture of the bunny, in the middle of those pillowcases, is so DARLING!!!! This is what drew me into watching the video! Thanks for that!!!! I have been wanting to find some sort of charity work that I could contribute to. I think I have found it! |

The emails are pouring in from all over. Ryan's light is shining bright! Cindy "Hello,I am writing to thank you for the beautiful pillow cases you make. Our 4 1/2 year old daughter was diagnosed with stage 4,high risk, neuroblastoma.Your pillow cases really brightened her days.Maggie's favorite color was purple and her nurses knew exactly which ones to bring her.Maggie sadly passed away but I wanted you to know how much joy she got from those pillow cases and also how much comfort they bring to our other 2 children (ages 6 and 11) who use them now to feel closer to their little sister.Thank you for doing what you do,it truly matters!" |

I have vowed that I wont't stop with doing it once, I will continue to keep on contributing on a regular basis. What a wonderful cause! It touched my heart and knowing it is putting a smile on a child's face is the ultimate reward! One of the stories I read on the web site was about a boy that puts his pillow case over the iv stand that holds the bag....that way he has something bright and cheerful to look at while he is getting his treatment. I AM SO GLAD YOU FOUND THIS CAUSE!!! NOW ALL OF TQS FAMILY WILL JOIN IN AND BRING SMILES TO MORE FACES!!!! THANK YOU ALEX FOR MAKING THIS A CHALLENGE! |

I've been looking for a project to donate. Sometimes I just want to sit down and sew and finish something. What a pleasure to create a pillow case with fun bright fabrics and be able to donate it to this cause. Looking forward to contacting the local drop off. |

My students and I have provided 261 pillowcases for this cause to date and we plan on continuing for a very long time. It only takes a little time and it is a great way to clear out your stash and your friends stash. |

They are awesome. Each state has it's own chapter. So you can help kids in your area. And learning the hot dog method to make a pillow case was so much fun. You can teach an old dog new tricks. I am so happy that The Quilt Show is helping these folks. Thank You Thank You Thank You. My chapter in Georgia is run by Lisa Rowell. A fabolous lady. This is way to cool. |

 | Blog Title: Help Sick Children This Holiday Season: It's Easy With Pillowcases (12/01/2009) | | | Krackers Says: | | | December 01, 2009 at 02:19 pm | | | | I have been making quilts for kids ages 8-18 with cancer for over six years now. They are called "Ally Cat Quilts by Krackers". I gave up counting how many when I hit #861, which was a year and a half ago. I learned that there is a huge need for kids' quilts in this age bracket, because most people make the quilts for the little guys, but the teens are mostly forgotten. Our granddaughter, Ally, was diagnosed with leukemia when she was 11, and she and our daughter are the ones who are responsible for this effort. It is amazing how much making these quilts for the kids has increased my own Spirituality, because each quilt is different, each has a cat on it somewhere (for the Ally Cat part), and each one is carefully planned out and stuffed with prayer. Just yeaterday I mailed off one to New York and one to Washington state. Another that I am starting today goes to California. Sandy Collins (aka Krackers) |

It's amazing how the idea has spread worldwide! But, quilters are amazing at spreading good ideas and getting them accomplished. The Valley Quilters Guild in Green Valley, AZ has been making pillow cases and pillow case totes for children at the Ronald McDonald House in Tucson, AZ for some time and they are very popular. We also made LOTS of Christmas stockings for a local charity's kid's party coming up this year. Big sew days make a lot of work get done quickly while we're having a good time together. Mary Anne |
