| “ Cracker Stars and X-Stars” Star Crazy is a star-studded quilt; it has fifty-three stars in it. If beds were bigger, I would have made even more stars for this quilt; I love star blocks! This quilt is not difficult to make; a beginner could tackle it, provided they measure, cut, sew, and press carefully. Precision piecing is a matter of practice… and good sewing habits. This block-of-the-month pattern will guide you through the construction of each of the units that are a part of the quilt. As you make it, I hope that you learn something new and have fun. Each month’s pattern for Star Crazy includes fabric requirements, cutting directions, and assembly instructions for the blocks and borders. Sprinkled throughout the pattern are tips to help you in the construction of this quilt. | | | February 1, 2010

Instructions available the first of the month | “Irish Chains-Part One” This month, you will make five 8-inch Irish Chain blocks. Irish Chain blocks are great as “connector” blocks. You will also make four 6-inch Evening Star blocks this month; you should be an expert at making these blocks by now! | | | November 1, 2010
Instructions available the first of the month | “Irish Chains- Part Two” Where did the time go? It seems like only last month that we started this block-of-the-month, and here we are in Month Eleven with only one more month to go… and then you’ll be done making this quilt! I hope you have enjoyed the year so far, and are looking forward to finishing your quilt. This month, you will make one 8-inch Irish Chain block and a dozen 4- by 8-inch Half-Chain blocks (finished sizes). The Half-Chain blocks are side-setting blocks that “finish” the Irish Chains. Let’s start sewing! | | | December 1, 2010
Instructions available the first of the month | “Four-Patch Stars, Quad Stars, and Quilt Assembly” Here we are – at the end of the year. It seems like only last month that we started this block-of-the month, and now we are about to finish. This month, you will make three 6-inch Four-Patch Stars, three 6-inch Quad Stars, and more 1-1/2 inch half-square triangles. You will also assemble your quilt top, sewing together all of the units that you’ve made over the past year. Let’s sew! | |
