Elena Morera (my partner) and I co-own gregory case photography. We specialize in quilt and textile photography and have over 50 clients from over 20 states that send their quilts and textiles to our studio to be featured in books, catalogs, juried shows, exhibits, patterns, and fabric designs. We have over 17 books that feature our photography.
For the last three years, we have photographed the exhibits and events for the San Jose Museum of Quilts and Textiles (www.sjquiltmuseum.org). We also photograph artist/designer’s studios and assorted marketing booths at various quilt and textile trade shows. In addition, we are guest bloggers on Quilter’s Buzz (www.quiltersbuzz.com).
Gregory is “Photo Man” on The Quilt Show and has an on-going slide show (see top of this page in the purple navigation bar: "Slideshows") of some of the behind the scenes of the Show and the surrounding La Veta countryside.
We plan to write regularly on this blog about quilt and textile photography and related subjects. Through this blog, we will introduce you to people, books, magazines, websites, blogs, quilts, textiles, patterns, fabric, and designs that you might not be familiar with and we’ll include lots of tips, features, and extended tutorials on how to improve your own quilt and textile photography. Some day, when our time permits, we plan to update our own web site: http://www.gregorycase.com.
We look forward to your comments, suggestions, thoughts, and topics to discuss on this blog. And of course, the opinions and views expressed in this blog are ours alone and do not necessarily reflect the opinions and views of The Quilt Show management, sponsors, underwriters, advertisers, or its guests.

| | Just Announced: New Book by Freddy and Gwen! (Click to Read) | 03/18/2008 851 views 1 comments | | | View all My Blogs | 1 Comments | Submit a Comment | |
Last week Elena and I were at Freddy Moran’s house photographing Freddy and Gwen for their (just announced) second book. We spent the afternoon and evening talking and photographing. It is great to work with two seasoned professionals and to view their creative quilt designs they plan for the book. The quilt that will be on the cover is classic and fun Freddy and Gwen! At Freddy’s front door, she had a stack of quilts for us to take home with us (see photo above). Like their last book, Collaborative Quilting, (in which I was their principal photographer) they will divide this new book into Freddy’s quilts, Gwen’s quilts, and their collaborative quilts. End of the day, we packed most of Freddy’s quilts into the trunk of our car and off we went. (She designs about 40 – 50 quilts a year!)
Since they were on their way to Empty Spools Seminars to co-teach last Sunday, they said they planned to drop off some more quilts on their way. So lucky reader, I wanted to give you a sneak peek of what Freddy and Gwen are up to these days.
So, what you are looking at are 28 collaborative quilts--in those bed sheets. Now we have around 60 clients who have sent us quilts from 22 states, but only Freddy and Gwen hand-deliver their quilts to us in bed sheets! For them it’s no fancy plastic bags, or tissue-wrapped, or rolled in a circular foam, or new boxes sent via UPS or FedEx, it’s just bunched up, stacked up, and stuffed in loosely tied bed sheets so they don’t fall out! Only those two would do that--you have to love it! My only surprise, when I later thought about it, was that Freddy even owned WHITE PLAIN sheets! (The red sheets were a given.) And lucky us, we get to (again) photograph around 75 quilts for this book! It will be a quilt photo blast. I’ll keep you posted on the publication date and title but, for the quilts images themselves, you will have to buy the book! You can read more about the making of the book here: Courage in 4-Color (see March 13th, 2008). | | | |
