My baby turned six this week. Here she is with the package of fake vomit she asked my sister to buy her for her birthday. Seriously. I don't think she thought my sister would actually buy it but I knew better!
Anyway, since the day she was born, Morgan's been...let's say...outgoing. And loud. And usually funny. And lately, time-consuming. This week was all about Morgan. On Wednesday, we had her very first Girl Scout Daisy meeting (I'm the troop leader and spent two hours the night before ironing Girl Scout patches to 11 uniforms to prepare for the meeting). Then I had to go to a Girl Scout training class in the evening. Thursday was spent getting the troop registered and shopping for her birthday. Friday actually was her birthday which meant sending in treats for the class and then, unfortunately, trying to straighten out the reason that the church secretary triple-booked the church basement for our Daisy meeting this week. (We got bumped by the school band.) But then Morgan and I spent some time in the studio together on Friday night. Sewing. It was kinda fiberous! I found a tutorial online for making ruffled streamers. They were so neat! And since Morgan chose a rainbow unicorn theme for her birthday party, she and I made some of these colorful, ruffled decorations. She stood behind me with two rolls of streamers on a stick to keep them straight and I fed them into the sewing machine. She had fun deciding on color combinations and was a good helper. They turned out pretty cute! (There are more streamers across the ceiling that are out of view. It was very colorful!)
So technically, I did sew this week! Yay! Will I this week? No! But it's OK...because my free time will be spent preparing to go to Houston! Our flight leaves Friday morning and I'm due to arrive in Houston on Friday afternoon. I probably won't make it to the show until Saturday morning, but I plan to spend all Saturday there and will definitely be at the TQS booth meetup! I'm so excited to see some of you there! My sister will be taking care of my kids while Dave and I are gone and she will definitely need a bit of luck. Just look what she has to deal with. This is Morgan right after she said, "Take my picture like I'm gonna lick the cake!" (Roll over this picture to see the inside of her cake. I worked a long time on it but she loved it so it was all worth it!) That kid is so weird!
I'm so looking forward to next weekend and I'll be sure to share photos when I get a chance. Have a great week everyone! (You know I will!) |
