I want to send my most sincere thanks to all of you who responded to my plea about my water lily quilt. You guys are the best!!! Where else but on the internet -- specifically TQS -- could I ask for an opinion like I did and get so many quick responses. I was going back and forth about it the whole evening before and I was really in need of a new set of eyes. To get so many eyes to help me out was just wonderful! Thank you all for taking the time to share your thoughts. I'm very fortunate to have such a terrific group of friends here! So I picked you all a bouquet of lilacs.... And I finished up the water lily quilt and named it "Glowy Joey" -- no, seriously -- that's the name. In "real life" the lily in the quilt looks as if it is glowing from the inside and the original photo is one of my 'Joey Tomocik' water lilies. Hence the goofy name! After I put on the binding, I decided it still needed something. You know, 'cause there's nothing plainer than a flourescent yellow water lily on a dark blue background with an obnoxious green, yellow and blue border that has been quilted within an inch of its life! Boring! I know -- let's add hot-fix crystals! Yep. That's what I did. I'm becoming an embellishment junkie! It's much more sparkly than it looks in the picture. I'm happy with how it turned out and amazed at how easily it came together! Really, if you have a printer, do try this technique. It's loads of fun! And my embellishments got a little out of hand on this next piece. This is the one I didn't care for when I started but Katelyn loved it and claimed it for her own if I would finish it. So I did. I'm still not crazy about the color scheme, but hey, the kid liked it so it got done. This one has a printed photo of some of my cornflowers last year, but I printed it before watching the Beth Wheeler episode and I definitely should've played with the image saturation like she suggested. It's called "Cornflower Blues." See? I think I need some sort of therapy. My name is Bridget, and I'm an embellishment addict. And today was the day. This morning was the Pet Parade. Bud is still wiped out from all that walking and the kids are a little tired as well. But it was all worthwhile because the girls actually won a prize! They got second place in their division! Hooray! They got ribbons, a trophy, and a $50.00 gift certificate for a local restaurant! The costume-making actually paid off this time around! So now the parade is over, the school year has come to an end, and I'm free to do whatever I like -- well, and whatever Dave and the girls would like. It's pretty good timing for the new BOM! Have a great week everyone! |
