Happy New Year to me and you. There are a few times during the year I make new commitments; in September when everyone is going back to school, my birthday 11/20, the new year and sometime in the spring when all the newly unfurled green leaves fill the landscape. I need regular times of refeshing and starting over. I don't so much fail, but stumble and become over whelmed with all the world has to offer and need to take a deep breath and start over again. Basically, my goals haven't changed; make a few landscape quilts and write good stories. I love to create in both ways. Each one is a respit from the other. While I'm sewing my unconscious mind works on a story. While I'm writing I see quilts I want to make or techniques to help me implement an idea. In the past, I've felt wierd about splitting my creative endeavors, but after being with Ricky and Alex this past year, I'm much more comfortable with my dual passions. Oh yea, please, TQS, get spell check for us. Believe it or not, a creative writer can be just as creative in her spelling, and while your at it, put in a thesaurus. That's may sound like a bit much, but with technology bounding ahead, it will come along. Just like the videos have imprpoved over the first year and the show's visual clarity has improved and will improve. For the first time, I'm writing a tbook with intertwined story lines, where we follow several characters untill their lives come together and the tales resolve. My ideas for my landscape quilts continue to go 3D. I need to rearange my design wall so it's a wee bit lower. I'm only 5'2". I'm not trying to make giant wall hangings. 4'X5' is about right. If it's already sitting on a small bookcase I have a hard time reaching the top. I only need a shelf at the bottom to hold pins and other small stuff; a little problem solving needed here. And so the new year begins. The holiday's were great. We're in the middle of another blizzard here in Northeast Ohio, a fine time to hunker down, and get back to work. Sincerely, Jane |
