Hey Everybody......I've been trying to write this blog since this morning, but once the day gets going, it's hard to write. We are in the third day of retreat and WOW is about all I can say. It's been crazy busy and exciting and fun and thrilling and many other adjectives since the very first word was said. There is an amazing group of ladies here and two wonderful husbands, Fred and Mark, who have enjoyed every minute as well. This is five of my gradations I did in the dye class. I don't have the rest of it ironed, so I'll show it later. I love them!
This is three friends who came together, Beth, Barbara and Diana, with Ricky and Justin, on the first night unpacking everything. They had from 50 to 60 pounds of fabric in several suitcases.
I finished my first piece yesterday to the part of applique. Since I know how to do that already, I will finish it at home and so I'm off to the next piece. Here's a picture of the first one. It has a meaning that perhaps I'll share when I complete it. It's a very special piece for me.
Now, I'm off to the second thing I wanted to work toward. I've had a picture of inspiration of a ceiling in a castle, looking at it the entire year. So yesterday, I started a new Rhapsody. I am very excited about it and have it ready to pull fabrics. Here's the templates ready to begin.
As many of you know, Judith Baker Montano lives and has her studio in La Veta. She has private retreats there and was having one this week. So yesteray (Wednesday), her students came to visit our retreat and we went to visit their retreat as well. My jaw dropped to look at their beautiful work. Here are two of the pieces.

Judith has a beautiful cottage and gardens that are gorgeous. These two pictures are from her gardens. This was a wonderful added treat to yesterday.

Peg (weaver49) is a hoot....so here you can see that for sure.
We are reminded and challenged from the beginning, and many times during the week, to find what makes our heart sing......and to do it!!!!! There are many beautiful projects on the design walls that I will share some of them as they progress. I see more every day how different this retreat is for each individual....and there are really not enough words in the world to describe it. Have a great week, and I promise I'll have enough wonderful moments for everybody. Blessings to all! Dana |
