Time for Tips, Techniques, and a Special Tribute
Join us in Episode 705 for a show filled with great ideas and inspiration for your "quilting tool box." We begin with Jennifer Keltner, editor of American Patchwork & Quilting, who reveals her "Top10 Quilt Tips," a sampling of great ideas that will make your quilting experience more fun and productive. View Some of Quilting's Historic Masterworks
Take advantage of a rare opportunity to see a selection of the exquisite quilts created by some of America's most talented women. From October 5, 2010 through October 16, 2011, a special exhibit entitled Quilts: Masterworks from the American Folk Art Museum will allow visitors to view pieces rarely on display at the museum's main New York City location. 

 "Given the rarity of the fabrics used in most of the museum's historic quilts, the fine workmanship, and the quilts' well-preserved condition, it is clear that they are examples of 'best' bedcovers, saved for use on special occasions or when company visited. During the late 19th and early 20th centuries, when quilts no longer needed to be made for mere warmth, quiltmakers used the art form to express their creativity within the confines of popular decorating trends."

Make it Monday Project:  Fun and Easy Lunch Bag
Hello Quilt Campers.  This week's tutorial is a quick and fun oilcloth lunch bag from Dorie at Tumbling Blocks.  It's a great way to send your school bound student off in style with a colorful lunch bag that is both eco-friendly and easily wipe able.  You might want to make a few for others in the family as well.

Avoid the "Tool Shuffle"

Sometimes it's a challenge keeping up with your tools at a retreat or workshop, especially when fellow quilters bring the same equipment (great minds think alike!). How can you distinguish your items from similar-looking notions in the crowd? Add a bit of flair with beads, colorful fabric bits,or tassles to avoid the great shuffle during the hustle and bustle of pack-up time. It's a simple, colorful, and fun solution to a common classroom dilemma.  If you have a great tip to share, send it to us here.
