Top 100 Puzzle - Sunday School Picnic - Jennie C. Trein This week's puzzle is Sunday School Picnic made by Jennie C. Trein in 1932. It is 83" x 84" and is made of cottons, hand pieced, appliqued, embroidered, and quilted. It is in the collection of Shelly and Kenny Zegart.
Jennie said about the quilt, "and tho my hands were busy I looked out into the orchard where was a homemade table, from which we ate the world-famous cooking of the Pennsylvania Dutch. Then and there my thoughts ran into space. To design and make (for myself) a 'Sunday School Picnic' quilt." Put on your best bonnet and head off to the Sunday School Picnic.

Making Fabric Your Own - Quilter's Quips and Tips Follow-Up In a recent Quilter's Quips and Tips, TQS asked the question, "Have you ever had that piece of fabric that just doesn't work out for you and what did you do to make that fabric your own? The replies were so creative we thought we'd share a few here.
"I've gone in and shaded with Prismacolor pencils."
"I just used painters tape with a dropcloth and let fly with a sponge and Dynaflow paint."
"SHARPIES work great... The fine point..Even glitter."
"The loose tea I got in Boston at the Old North Church gift store that was from the East India Company (host of the Boston Tea Party) was the perfect solution."
"I took some black and white fabrics and some red kool-aid and created some very interesting combinations. Kool-aid only works with 100% natural fibers."
"I usually reach for the bleach (diluted 10 to 1 with water) or some day-old coffee"
