Why Quilts Matter - Episode 5 - Gee's Bend: "The Most Famous Quilts in America?" Beginning Friday, Febuary 17, TQS will post Episode 5 of Why Quilts Matter. This episode traces the journey of the quilts of Gees Bend from the clotheslines of the South to the exhibition walls of the country´s greatest museums. It will also explore the aesthetic and social appeal of these quilts - and quilters - as well as the controversies they engendered, and analyze their unique place in quilt history.


This episode is available free to all Star Members through March 31, 2012. This is a gift for Star Members so make sure to be signed in.

Sunbonnet Sue Contest: The Dog Days of Summer
Ricky is preparing a very fun article for the summer issue of The Quilt Life Magazine and he is issuing a fast turn around challenge to members of The Quilt Show!
You have two weeks to design and create a block that reflects the various activities Sunbonnet Sue might enjoy during those long, hot summer days!
Ten finalists will be chosen and all ten will be featured in The Quilt Life online. Three winners will be featured in the printed issue and each will receive also receive a bag of Ricky's delicious hand-dyed scraps that you can use to dress many future Sunbonnet Sues.
