Dear Members of the new World Quilt Community,
Wow, Now that sounds impressive doesn’t it? (and we like saying it)
We anticipated a good opening response to The
Quilt Show (online television show and interacitve site) which but we are overwhelmed and awed by your response. Our “soft opening” has been a great success and we thank you for your patience as we tweek it and fix little bugs here and there. Relatively speaking, the glitches have been few and far between. Kudos, kudos to our fabulous web team heroes!
Many of you have asked how this whole endeavor got started? Take a moment to visit Alex’s web site www.alexandersonquilts.com and listen to (podcast) the inside scoop of behind the scenes of Alex and Ricky’s great adventure!
Our website is truly in its infancy and we are often working around the clock to put new features on the site. Soon, very soon, this newsletter will announce our online live/ interactive chat rooms and later, the forum (message board). In order to organize this site into a manageable and user friendly environment, we need your input. So, what topics would you like to see in the forum? We will create several categories and sub categories. This truly is your community, so your two-cents worth of advice and suggestions are important! You can post a comment on The
Daily Blog (post to "Needing Your Two-Cents") or email us with your comments under Contact
Us – select Comments.
We will soon have a feature that enables you to post a profile about your quilt show or quilting event. You’ll be able to promote your show for the world to see! We’ll keep you posted.
Two other features that will soon be available are posting Quilt Shop Profiles and Professional Teacher’s Profiles. These are additional profiles available to our Star Members. The profiles will provide the opportunity to search for teachers and shops around the world.
In the mean time, we encourage you to upload your smiling faces on your profiles. Don’t be shy. Also, we want to see your quilts. If every member posted all six quilts now, we would already have 9000 quilts in our Quilt Gallery. How fun to search for an Ohio Star Quilt in Manitoba, made between 1930-1939! C’mon, show us your quilts! This is our community – and it only works because you will make it work. We’re just providing the facility to do so.
See you online!
Alex and Ricky
