"Thanks for the great responses to suggestions to make this site better everyday. I worked for 27 years in the aerospace industry trying to get program changes in the mainframe system, so this is so exciting to see great ideas put in production so fast and so user friendly to us quilters. Thanks again for a great website. "

46_45_chocolate_cake.jpg The Quilt Show and Superior Threads give out a GRAND present
The Quilt Show is throwing a party, and we are inviting 50,000 of our closest friends. There will be balloons, champagne, cake and presents from Bernina and Superior Threads. What’s a party without presents? As of today we have over 20,000 friends (members) on the guest list, but we want to make this the party that everyone talks about and wants to attend. But we need YOUR help to have more friends (members) join us. When we reach our goal of 50,000 ANY and ALL of you are eligible to win a NEW top of the line Bernina!! But wait that’s not all. Superior Threads is adding a big bow to the present--a $500 certificate for thread from their entire line of threads. Now that is a party you surely don’t want to miss.

46_45_kate_sydney.jpgKate Sydney-Associate Producer
Kate Sydney was born and raised in Lincoln, IL, a farming community of 15,000 near Chicago. Following high school Kate attended Monmouth College where she double majored in Communications and Theatre Arts with a minor in French. Her concentration was in Media Productions.

After college Kate was invited by a group of friends to move to Minneapolis, MN where she began working for Prudential as a Production Assistant. The work involved producing corporate incentive videos and through this she was able to travel to various exotic locations. Kate says that while this was very exciting it was also very exhausting. So in 2004 she moved back to the Chicago area to be nearer to family and began looking for a new job. On a whim Kate sent her resume to the Oprah show. She was hired and began working as Assistant Producer for Special Projects. Along with her other duties she was also very involved in the research for the Oprah 20th Anniversary Special. It was during this time she met and became friends with Beverly Price (Producer).

After 1 ½ years Kate decided to transition to work as a free-lance Assistant Producer.Kate also has a passion for healthy, organic living. So it is only natural that during this time she would find herself drawn to the study and pursuit of a medical degree in Naturopathic Medicine. This field involves understanding all aspects of a patient’s life (diet, exercise, sleep, work, etc.) and being able to assess how it has adversely affected the body. Alternative natural medicines and diet are then used for treatment. Currently Kate is concentrating on the pre-requisite courses for medical school.

On The Quilt Show Kate is often in the back room coordinating between Bruce (the Director), Beverly (Producer) and Angel (Producer) while taping is going on. She also ensures that any materials that are going to be photographed, presented, or shot on tape are gathered and ready when needed.

Back in Chicago, while not at school, Kate is the manager of a tea shop called Tee Geschwendner . In her free time she enjoys reading about tea, cooking, running and taking part in improv theatre. She is currently reading the latest Harry Potter novel.

If you have spent any time browsing through this website you quickly realize that quilters have numerous loves and interests in addition to quilting. Many of you have shared photos of loved ones, family pets, gardens, and other interests as well as quilts. Who says we quilter’s can’t multi task all of those aspects of our lives. Thanks for sharing all of your passions with us. We become so much better friends when we know more about each other. By the way, check out the necklace on the Dachshund. Are those real diamonds?
