Description Statement:
This quilt was inspired by the fabric line from Loni Rossi and her princess patterns. I wanted to combine the three patterns into one larger quilt and use the gingko fabric for a border. The geishas are hand appliqued and I added gold embellishments.

Parisian Flowers
Quilt #: 1023243   Added on 06/07/2014

This quilt is an adaptation of the pattern “Jalousie” by Alethea Ballard. My friend Kelly bought the fabric in Paris and challenged me to use it in a quilt. It took me several years to find the right pattern. The center is quilted on an Innova long arm machine, while the border was quilted on my home machine.

I dyed all the fabric in the quilt, and then painted some details on the inner flower petals. It's all fused together and then machine quilted. The quilt took over a year to make, it started out as a sample for one of my classes and then kept growing.

Paul and Cinda's Wedding Quilt
Quilt #: 1013378   Added on 03/08/2009

Challenged to make a wedding quilt for my brother and his wife - with colors I was not crazy about - I used a purchased pattern that I had bought many years earlier...I ended up enjoying it immensely....even those large triangles with their biases! I also learned to use waxed paper piecing on the applique. Again, I loved it even more after I hand quilted it with my original designs!

This quilt was hand appliqued and hand quilted for my daughter and her husband, as a wedding gift. It took 14 months to complete from start to finish. No, I did NOT finish it in time for the wedding! They did get it before their first anniversary though.

Kansas in June
Quilt #: 1013532   Added on 03/14/2009

"Kansas in June" depicts my parent's 1937 wedding day. Mother's dress is similar in the original shape, but is a white on white crazy quilt. Dad's jacket is pieced, and he is entangled in the rose vine of the garden reception. Stained glass denotes the church wedding.

Schizo Rose
Quilt #: 1015394   Added on 10/09/2009

This quilt is called "Schizo Rose" because of the multiple personalities the rose acquired during the design process. Colors change where the quilt is "fractured", and "ghost" leaves are abundant. I was inspired by Katie Pasquini Masopust's books, and used Caryl Bryer Fallert's applipiecing technique. The free motion quilting was done by me, without marking, on my home sewing machine. For quilting detail, see My Personal Photos.
