|There’s an old saying, which goes “Gypsy Gold does not chink and glitter, it gleams in the sun, and neighs in the dark”. This was the inspiration for this quilt.|

The Thing with Feathers
Quilt #: 1023181 Added on 04/29/2014
So there is so much meaning in this quilt - the dark hand. Although it is full of fear, sorrow, pain, etc., it still has hope (feathers and swirls stitched in dark charcoal thread). The hand is reaching for HOPE (the thing with feathers), in it's reaching it is emitting more hope - the quilted feathers. What you can't really see is the feathers, as well as the swirls behind the birds, are a pastel variegated thread (little glimmers of hope). And although the sky is dark and dismal, there is so much movement, the singing.

Quilt #: 1023125 Added on 04/26/2014
Paddy the cat was taken by his owner Tom Rumble who let me use the photo to thread paint. I had fabric that showed an outdoor scene that resembled the photo. I have many pictures of this beautiful cat and I will probably do more of him.

I need some ideas for what to call this quilt! This was a very challenging quilt to make, it took 2 years for me to finish. Modifications to the design to make smaller caused a lot of challenges in calculations to the circle. It was machine quilted.

I follow Erin Russek's Blog, she offered this free BOM several years ago I have finally finished it. This entire quilt makes me smile. I love using the bright fabrics against the black background fabric even though it was way out of my comfort zone.

This is a modified Lone Star quilt with additional points. There are 1000 identically shaped and sized diamond patches each made of a different fabric making this a charm quilt. The fabrics were collected via a charm exchange within my local quilting group, The Lovells Loose Threads, in the township of Lovells, Michigan. I added some fabrics from my stash as well.

Quilt #: 1022908 Added on 02/20/2014
I saw a beautiful picture and got permission to reproduce it in fabric. This was done by creating my own pattern, then dyeing all of my fabrics (except the black). I then did raw edge applique, thread painting and quilting and added crystals for the stars.
