Quilt #: 1004857   Added on 06/21/2007

This quilt was hand appliqued and hand quilted for my daughter and her husband, as a wedding gift. It took 14 months to complete from start to finish. No, I did NOT finish it in time for the wedding! They did get it before their first anniversary though.

Kansas in June
Quilt #: 1013532   Added on 03/14/2009

"Kansas in June" depicts my parent's 1937 wedding day. Mother's dress is similar in the original shape, but is a white on white crazy quilt. Dad's jacket is pieced, and he is entangled in the rose vine of the garden reception. Stained glass denotes the church wedding.

Schizo Rose
Quilt #: 1015394   Added on 10/09/2009

This quilt is called "Schizo Rose" because of the multiple personalities the rose acquired during the design process. Colors change where the quilt is "fractured", and "ghost" leaves are abundant. I was inspired by Katie Pasquini Masopust's books, and used Caryl Bryer Fallert's applipiecing technique. The free motion quilting was done by me, without marking, on my home sewing machine. For quilting detail, see My Personal Photos.

Sunset Row on Broad Creek II
Quilt #: 1023211   Added on 05/16/2014

This quilt is the second that I've made from a picture I am using with the permission of my friend Deb Esposito. Deb and I owned a scull together and love to row on the Broad Creek which winds its way up the middle of Hilton Head Island. I printed the picture using Spoonflower.com and then densely quilted it so that all you see is the thread that I used. It has a wonderful shimmer based on the shine of the embroidery thread.

Life in Holly Ridge
Quilt #: 1001003   Added on 01/31/2007

Approximately 50,000 yards of thread and 5 million stitches created the thread painted designs. No embroidery cards were used. The background fabric was hand painted and Tsukineko Inks were used to ink the doors and windows on the houses and bias sided stores. My grandchildren are the merchants in the town. It took approximately 1500 hours of frustration, a ton of trial and error and incredible fun and ultimately total joy to complete the quilt. Take a look around the town and step back in history a bit.
