I love this pattern. I didn't love the dark fabrics in the original quilt. I brought out my batics and brights and had fun needleturning the appliqued flowers and baskets. |

| February 02, 2012 | | | | quiltaholic60 Presents: Memories of my Grandparents Quilt #: 1016216 Added on 01/29/2010
My youngest daughter's friend commissioned me to make a memory quilt using her grandparents clothing. I chose the Churn Dash block because it was my own grandmother's favorite block to work with. I set the blocks together slightly off kilter for an added design option. The customer cried when she saw it! |

| February 01, 2012 | | | | peggiyac Presents: My Amish Garden Quilt #: 1015460 Added on 10/20/2009
I combined two sets of swap blocks for this quilt-- 6 inch Nine Patch blocks set on point in black, and 9 inch Churn Dash blocks. The blocks combined well but needed a soft border applique to set them off. |

When I first joined my quild, they had just started mentoring sessions for this quilt which was taught "demo" style by Cheryl Winslow. The classes were held once a month for an hour or so after our meeting. I learned a lot, the most important being Cheryl's method to match up seams. The prairie points were my idea to add to the long sides of the quilt. The completed quilt was given as a wedding shower gift to my nephew's future bride |

I just used scraps from other projects to make the churn dash blocks and then tried lots of different fabrics for the setting triangles until I found the one I thought worked best.
Quilt rack made by my husband. It decorates a large "high" wall beautifully. The quilt rack is large enough to hold both this quilt and the Whack and Stack in other photo. |

I made this one just for fun, using indigo fabrics from South Africa and reproduction shirting fabrics collected here. I do love playing with 3-D designs on flat surfaces. I tea-dyed some of the shirting fabrics to use in the asymmetric blocks, to help foster the 3-D illusion. |

| January 27, 2012 | | | | janetstone Presents: Red Letter Daze Quilt #: 1019631 Added on 08/08/2011
This quilt was inspired by antique Quaker cross stitch samplers. The letters and scroll designs were all free motion embroidered. Lots of crystals, beads, and gold filigree pieces adorn the quilt. (I just love a few sparkly things!) I finally won a REAL Best in Show at MQX East this year with this quilt! |

I bought a pile of fat quarters at a quilt show, had them sitting on the table, kept looking at them, and soon realized they needed to be SHEEP! This is the 8th quilt in my ongoing alphabet quilt series and has been lucky enough to win several prizes so far. |

A challenging fabric can produce the most vibrant quilt – the applique blocks are made with a simple floral design and fun hand applique. The pieced blocks are a colorful compliment to the center blocks. |
