 | | Pattiwatti Presents: "Pure Retro" Quilt #: 1014631 Added on 07/04/2009
This quilt was made from a kit in a magazine. I am so sorry, I don't remember which one. I gave the book away. The 60s-70s look to it led me to entitle it "Pure Retro." |

I worked on this during the cold months of winter, so I used sunny colors. Once I added the blue that resembled water, I started thinking about tropical shapes and came up with several ideas for the applique - dolphins, palm trees, shells, starfish, waves, etc. The curves were quite a challenge for me and I had to hand sew some of it in order to get it flat. All that blanket stitching with decorative threads was fun. |

Made is neutrals with some white thrown in. When asked what they registered for I found creams, ivorys and such, so that is when I started looking for something in Neutrals. This was perfect and it's queen size. |

 | | madeleine Presents: Purple Passion Quilt #: 1014617 Added on 07/03/2009
I wanted to make a kaleidescope block quilt and used some Australian fabrics I'd purchased at a quilt show. It became a purple quilt and I don't care much for purple. Oh, well, I really like it. |

 | | QMania Presents: Affairs of the Heart Quilt #: 1014608 Added on 07/02/2009
I first found this book on a website while surfing on the web. To my amazement, the author lived in my home town. So I called her up and went to her house to pick up two copies, one for myself and one for a friend. Around two months or so after I had purchased the book, this was offered as a block of the month at my local quilt shop. Of course, I jumped on board! I didn't do it with needleturn applique like Aie Rossman (the designer) did because I detest hand sewing. I did very little quilting on it because I didn't want to take away from the spectacular design. |

 | | QMania Presents: Moyie Tranquility Quilt #: 1014607 Added on 07/02/2009
This was my first quilt. It is a king size bargello and has 28 different fabrics in it. The top was completed in 2004 and I finished the quilting in 2005 on my domestic sewing machine. This quilt is on the bed at our log cabin in Moyie, BC. The colors (terracotta and teal) were chosen to represent the wood of the cabin and the greens of the surrounding forrest. |

When I finish the binding on this quilt it will most likely be one of my personal favorites. I really enjoyed putting it together but was stumped when it came to the quilting. I did SID and there it sits while I take months to ponder what else I should do. I think I will let it go and call it done. |

I completed the piecing of this quilt during and after a quilt retreat at Cambria, CA led by podcaster and quilt teacher, Annie Smith. It still needs quilting - soon to be done, of course!? The sashing and borders are completed, I just don't have a current photo. |
