Daddy's Girl

Fused applique to create water, waves and boat. Enhanced with thread painting and Derwent Inktense pencils. Machine quilted on my home machine. I took the picture from the shore on a brilliant October afternoon. I then cropped the photo to enlarge the boat and found that the waves being pushed in front of the boat made a very interesting design. |

Long an admirer of Yvonne Porcella's free-style faces BUT afraid to tackle one UNTIL the latest issue of The Quilt Life arrived and gave me the confidence to make my own. She hangs near my sewing machine in my new sewing studio. She's what I often look like when I am spending more time un-sewing than sewing. I'm retired and just LOVING the sewing space and the time to do things I've long wanted to do but never had the courage AND I've used a number of the patterns and kits I've purchased over the years. Elegance in Cotton" top made by Judy Sommer. This is the companion quilt to the black and white wool wall hanging I made. The center medallion is the same. This quilt is 98" square. I'm currently finishing writing the pattern for this. It was a joy to custom quilt (handguided) on my Gammill Classic Plus. Kits will be available soon at Sisters in Quilting in Marlette for both the cotton and wool projects. |
