Prickly Abode
Quilt #: 1022110   Added on 05/21/2013

I made this pattern from a photo of a saguaro cactus taken by me and a Dover coloring book image of a Gila Woodpecker. I used colored pencils and so soft paints to create the image. This was created for Minnesota Contemporary Quilters abode challenge. The Gila Woodpecker uses the cactus for it's abode.

Pharoh
Quilt #: 1022097   Added on 05/15/2013

I had a piece of fabric with an image of a Pharoh on it. I had another piece of fabric with cats on it. So I began by adding green and copper colored retangles of different sizes to these images using my design wall. All pieces were fused to a background, and the quilting was done with a copper-colored metallic thread.

Ricky Tim's Practice quilt
Quilt #: 1022096   Added on 05/15/2013

I attended a Super Seminar a couple of years ago in Iowa and this was my practice block from a pattern in the materials from the seminar. I adapted the feathers around the center block from one of his patterns. Am going to make a Rhapsody at some point...this turned out better than I expected!

Xavier's Lone Star
Quilt #: 1022084   Added on 05/07/2013

I started this quilt in a weeklong workshop and completed the entire middle section and brown border seven years ago. I didn't know how I wanted to quilt it, so I hung it in the closet. When I decided how I wanted to quilt it, I did most of the quilting, but didn't know how to embellish the large setting squares, so it went back to the closet. When Xavier moved from a crib to a bed, I knew it would be for him and decided to applique large cowboy boots in each corner. After a trip to Houston for the show in 2012 and being unable to find a suitable stencil, I just traced my own boot, and put a stitching design on it. He finally got it for his 4th birthday in March. He loves it and sleeps under it every night.

Arpeggio
Quilt #: 1022077   Added on 05/06/2013

Arpeggio was designed in EQ7. I was putting gas in my car one day and was looking down and noticed the interesting design on the tires. Light bulb moment. I had to make a quilt with this design. I played in EQ7 and came up with this quilt. It was entered in Ricky's 5 Hand Dye Challenge. It did not win but I love it, it made me really step out of my box and try something new and different.

Smart Circles
Quilt #: 1022070   Added on 04/29/2013

This is my first original quilt design featuring machine appliqued circles placed in a cascading color effect, a narrow inner border and a wide outer border. The bias stems create ribbons flowing around the border and into clusters of circles at each corner. This has been a fun quilt to make with more to come after it is quilted. Any suggestions?
