Sparkler Presents:
Mark Rothko Meets Billy Joel
Quilt #: 1009292   Added on 02/18/2008

Inspired by a Rothko painting at the Des Moines Art Center ("Light over Red") and the title of a Billy Joel song ("Blonde over Blue").
Sparkler Presents:
Four Hearts
Quilt #: 1008811   Added on 01/07/2008

I wanted to create a 4-panel quilt with the common heart motif but sort of in the style of Andy Warhol so I used a pair of complementary colors for each panel and then tried to unify it by using the red of the upper left heart for the sashing and the binding.
Sparkler Presents:
Lavender's Blue
Quilt #: 1008582   Added on 12/21/2007

I was inspired by the lavendar fabric and the song "Lavender's blue dilly dilly, lavender's green".
Sparkler Presents:
Feel It
Quilt #: 1007978   Added on 10/10/2007

This piece is an abstract depiction of anger. The title is a double entendre: Feel It (the emotion) and Feel It (an invitation to touch the texture of the piece, particularly the background). Completed as a class project for a Quilt University course.
Sparkler Presents:
Circles #3: Ripples
Quilt #: 1007780   Added on 09/29/2007

I made this quilt to feature some beautiful beads I had collected.
Sparkler Presents:
Circles #2: Meditation
Quilt #: 1007779   Added on 09/29/2007

Wanted to create movement & depth using color & size. Bottom layer is hand-painted & circles are cut in upper layer. Joined the 2 layers when I quilted each circle.
