I immediately tried this out but cut across the squares diagonally for a very different effect. This is just one of the many ways the four blocks can be arranged, giving secondary patterns- the square in the centre. I added tiny prairie points to the seams in two of the squares and pressed them open.
Needless to say these are experimental blocks and not yet made into a quilt. One day!!

Today we hang quilts in the church for a one day retreat. This will be the focus quilt for our "Fabric of Life" Women's meeting. I'll also hang several others. The challenge was to use the fish fabric, we were each provided a 9 inch square and asked to use as much as possible. Her bathing suit and Dresden Plate skirt are fish fabric, and the flowers around her feet are made of small cutouts of shapes in the fabric. I think I used every scrap! Rosie is a photo transfer, and the background is stipple quilted and hand beaded. A fun quilt to make!
