You have two weeks to design and create a 12.5" unfinished quilt block. Ten finalists will be chosen and all ten will be featured in The Quilt Life online. Three winners will be featured in the printed issue and each will receive also receive a bag of Ricky's delicious hand-dyed scraps that you can use to dress many future Sunbonnet Sues.
Theme: Sunbonnet Sue - Summertime Hot!
Entries are encouraged to reflect the various activities that Sunbonnet Sue might pursue during the dog days of Summer.
Contest Rules:
1. Blocks should measure 12.5 unfinished. Blocks should left unfinished and edges left raw. No quilted blocks or finished edge blocks will be considered. These blocks should remains as they would be prior to joining them together in a quilt top and prior to layering and quilting.
2. All designs must be totally original and design and work of one person.
3. By submitting an entry to the Show and Tell, you agree to be considered for publication, and if chosen, agree to be published online or in The Quilt Life magazine.
4. Top three finalist must immediately agree send their block for photography. Blocks will be returned right away.
5. All Entries must be submitted by TQS members utilizing Ricky's Sunbonnet Sue Contest Show And Tell.
6. Photos must be crisp, clear, and taken straight on so they are square showing raw edges. No obviously skewed images will be considered.
Deadline: All entries must be submitted for entry by Friday, March 2, 2012 at midnight Pacific Time. |

Their son, Joey, and his wife Shelly, are having their first baby and Alex and John's first grandchild. In honor of the occasion, TQS is going to have a Baby Quilt Contest, but you have to play to win!
Here are the rules: The quilt must be an original design. It must be a finished quilt. It should be no larger than 45" x 60" which is the size of a US baby crib batting and no smaller than 40" x 40." There should be no embellishment that might be dangerous to a baby, e.g. buttons. The deadline to enter is March 28, 2012. (The baby's due date.) It's a Girl!
January 1st, an area will be set up in Show in Tell for you to submit your entry. Alex and John will judge the winner based on your photograph, so take a good photo! (Watch Episode 807 - Shhh!!! A Prize-winning Quilter Shares Some Secrets with Ronda Beyer and Gregory Case. Gregory gives you tips on how to take a quality quilt photo.)
The 1st place winner will receive a signed copy of Alex's Baby Quilts with Love and a selection of fabric from her new fabric line for P&B Textiles, Leila Rose. (You can find a copy of Alex's book on her website.) Second and Third place winners will receive TQS Super Goodie Bags. |

How would you like to win money—as much as $300!—for your original fabric creation? With the holidays just around the corner, those winnings could go a long way toward the purchase of something special on your wish list. Here’s the challenge: Come up with a project in the format of your choice, such as a wallhanging, table runner, or set of placements, that expresses the glories of autumn. It’s a time of bountiful harvest, so set your imagination free. Your project can be made from cotton, wool, silk, or the fiber of your choice.
Theme: Autumn (e.g., plants, animals and/or birds, landscapes, foods of the season, color palette, etc.)
Dates: Contest runs from October 18, 2010- December 15, 2010
Prizes: 1st place-$300, 2nd place-$200, 3rd place-$100
Determination of Winners: TQS members will select their six favorites, and the three prize-winning entries will be chosen from those member favorites by ARJJ. The three prize-winners must agree to allow TQS to publish their complete pattern on the TQS Project page as a free project.
Notification of Winners: The three prizewinners will be notified via email by December 18, 2010 and will be announced in the December 21 eNewsletter/Daily Blog. All six finalists will appear in Weekend Fun.
