Number41
Embryophyte Abstractus
This piece is made from hand dyed fabric (I am still learning at this, I just started dyeing about a month ago). The inspiration started with the feather. The feather in the pieces resembles a small feather carved and smoothed out of bone that my Mom got from the Outer Banks, NC. I made the plants abstract so I could use more wild colors. The appliqué was done by machine using the blanket stitch. The stipple quilting was also done by machine. The finished piece measures 15” x 20”. This is the first time I ever named a quilt so please forgive the silly name. An Embryophyte is a multicellular land plant with full leaves, stems and roots.
